Epidemic Prevention and Personal Hygiene Devices Garner Attention at CES 2021

COVID-19, SARS-COV-2

The Consumer Technology Association organizes the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s leading show for consumer electronics, every January. Product manufacturers, distributors, and marketers from all over the world flock to Las Vegas to showcase the very latest gadgets that will enter the market in subsequent months and go mainstream. Products like robotic vacuum cleaners and large screen TVs were launched at CES and are already part of our lifestyles. For years, droves of enthusiasts, journalists, and consumers visited CES to check out the latest home entertainment systems, smart appliances, computers, and gadgets. This year, we see a new class of products pitched at work for home employees, students in digital classrooms, and products designed for epidemic prevention, personal safety and hygiene. Here’s a peek at some of the products we checked out at the Digital Edition of CES.

Unipin UV disinfection robot

This is a product of public health and epidemic prevention that uses high-intensity ultraviolet radiation of 253.7nm wavelength to disinfect and sterilize. The robotic device can move along corridors, within rooms, in lobbies, and in public spaces like hospital wards, airports, and metro stations on its own. It automatically carries out multi-point disinfection to the environment surface and the air, to prevent personnel infection and improve hygiene against airborne viruses. It uses Deep ULTRAVIOLET radiation to destroy the DNA or RNA molecular structure in microbial body cells, resulting in the death of growthline cells and the death of regenerative cells, thus achieving the sterilization effect. Under a certain dose, the deep ultraviolet ray kills most bacteria and viruses within 1 second.

The manufacturers claim it can completely eradicate 99.99% of the spores on the environmental surface (smooth surface, rough-porous surface) and various multi drug-resistant bacteria. The UNIPIN UV-C Robot can complete the disinfection job of 1000 square meters in about 100 minutes. The device is programmed to automatically return to charging stations when it runs low on charge.

LUFTQI’s personal air purifier

Taiwanese consumer electronics brand LUFTQI is showcasing the LUFT Duo for the first time at CES 2021. It is being touted as the first ever portable and filterless air purifier. The project broke its crowd-funding goals, raising more than 20 times its original target on Indiegogo.

Unlike traditional purifiers, the LUFT Duo is portable and doesn’t require expensive filter replacements, and uses UVA LED and photocatalytic tech to zap dust, pollen, mold, and pathogens down to the molecule.

As the successor to the Luft QI 1.0 and the Luft Cube 2.0, this molecular air purifier is a must-have gadget for those with allergies or asthma, who live in built-up, congested areas, or those who just want some extra health security in their homes.

Building on their brand slogan of “Good air, anytime and anywhere”, the LUFT Duo stays true to the company’s small-but-powerful product design while bringing a sense of security to those living through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The clever design of LUFT Duo means it creates zero unnecessary waste with a replaceable, washable filter. To keep a LUFT Duo in working order, all users have to do is remove the filter and gently clean.

Compared to HEPA filters, which are only capable of trapping certain pollutants, LUFTQI’s patented photocatalytic technology allows the LUFT Duo to also decompose pollutants too small for HEPA filters – such as formaldehyde, which measures 0.00001mm – as well as molds, VOCs, and pathogens.

The LUFT Duo design is also eco-friendly, producing zero ozone as it purifies.

Kohler Touchless Residential Bathroom Faucet

Kohler Co., a global leader in the design and innovation of kitchen and bath products, today announces several new additions to its smart home portfolio with a focus on personal wellbeing. Kohler introduces four new products during the first-ever virtual CES: Stillness Bath, Innate Intelligent Toilet, Touchless Bathroom Faucet collection, and two new products emerging from a collaboration with Phyn – KOHLER Whole Home Water Monitor Powered by Phyn, a DIY unit and a Pro version with automatic shut off.

Among many products that Kohler announced, we want to highlight the Touchless Residential Bathroom Faucet. It offers hands-free activation for washing hands, brushing teeth, and other daily tasks. Having the ability to wash hands at the end of the bathroom routine without touching the handles of the faucet decreases the potential spread of bacteria and germs in the space. Kohler launches an integrated faucet with embedded sensors as well as a remote puck that allows for a retrofit solution add-on to any KOHLER single control bathroom faucet.
