CGC: Interview with Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald

Edward snowdenHannover, Germany. He is the world’s best-known whistleblower, and his revelations have sparked a global debate on privacy and the work of government intelligence agencies: Edward Snowden. The CeBIT Global Conferences will feature a live remote interview with Snowden, who has been living in Russian exile since mid-2013, and American investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald as the publisher of Snowdon’s findings. Greenwald will be physically present at the CeBIT Global Conferences in Hannover.

Edward Snowden worked as a technical specialist and system administrator for the CIA and NSA before supplying investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald and filmmaker Laura Poitras with extensive material in the spring of 2013. In June 2013 the first reports were published, revealing pervasive surveillance of global digital communications by Western intelligence agencies to an extent that was previously unimagined. Titled “Citizenfour”, Poitras’s documentary on Snowden won the Academy Award for best documentary film at the end of February.

Greenwald will appear on Center Stage at the CeBIT Global Conferences (Hall 8) on Wednesday, 18 March. Then Snowden will join in via a live video feed from his place of exile. The interview will be moderated by Brent Goff, main news anchor at Deutsche Welle TV in Berlin.
