Mumbai, 12 December 2017 – Dimension Data, the global ICT Solutions and Services provider, today announced the successful implementation of the digital infrastructure for Avantika University, Ujjain. This implementation marks an important milestone in Avantika University’s digital transformation journey as it is one of the largest projects undertaken within the Indian educational sector. Dimension Data designed and deployed the university’s new infrastructure, and will also manage its IT assets and landscape, underpinned by advanced cybersecurity technologies.

Avantika is promoted by the MIT Group of Institutions, Pune with a vision to create a unique design ecosystem in central India. The spirit of creativity and innovation, complemented by design thinking and intellectual boldness is the central theme at Avantika. The university has chosen both physical and digital state-of-the-art infrastructure to support this.

Avantika is conceived to be a distinctive learning centre of India, that provides a comprehensive platform to develop the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. With a strong emphasis on design thinking and synthesis oriented education, Avantika is poised to explore and catalyse an era of creativity, innovation, and enterprise.

Avantika University is India’s first Design-Centered University based out of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, India. The Design-Centric Learning at Avantika starts with engaging learners to confront challenges. The learners will solve these challenges through analysis, reflection, ideation, synthesis, prototyping and testing the impact. Avantika believes in resetting the learning pedagogy with a balance of traditional values and contemporary practices; to create graduates with a broadened world-view. Avantika University has institutional level partnership with Aalto University, Finland for setting-up a Design Factory at Avantika campus. Additionally, Avantika has tied up with Ahhaa – A Inner Growth Platform and Cambridge University Press for training in Life Skills.

Dimension Data has implemented a combination of latest technologies such as the Unified Threat Management solution and Hyper Converged infrastructure, to help the university reduce costs by 20% in the first phase. Avantika University can now enjoy a scalable IT infrastructure and offer better facilities to students, simultaneously ensuring that its intellectual property is always secure through the backup, recovery, and disaster recovery built-in to a hyper converged environment.

“Avantika has a strong vision to nurture and cultivate young minds who will serve as enlightened citizens, bringing a positive change in the society. The Dimension Data team understood our vision and IT roadmap, and conducted detailed sessions with our technical team to better help us embark on a successful digital transformation journey. We were also able to reduce complexities, save time and costs with Dimension Data as our end-to-end IT service provider,” said N Sivaramakrishnan, Head – ICT, Avantika University.

“This is a very strategic and prestigious partnership which involves shaping young minds that will change the way we look at and solve the problems of tomorrow. Technology is evolving and has transformed every sphere of life and the education sector is no different.
