Hannover. At the upcoming CeBIT Global Conferences, the subject of IT security is where it should be – right at the top of the agenda. It will be addressed by an impressive line-up of world-class speakers, including the investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald, Kevin Mitnick, the world’s most famous hacker, and Dr. Jamie Shea, NATO’s Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges.

One of the biggest superstars among the keynote speakers is Glenn Greenwald, known to the world as the lawyer and investigative journalist who published the NSA documents disclosed by the whistleblower Edward Snowden. “It is important to realize how much access third parties have to our data […] because two years after the disclosures of Edward Snowden, things have barely changed. Right now, European governments should urgently consider which reactions their citizens and companies expect from them as well as how their security services can be more effectively supervised,” Greenwald said with regard to his upcoming appearance at CeBIT. He will be delivering his keynote on Wednesday 18 March at 5 p.m.

Also hotly anticipated is the CeBIT Global Conferences address by Kevin Mitnick, a man whose former exploits as a cyber-intruder put him on the wrong side of the law. Arguably the world’s most famous hacker, Mitnick was once hunted by the FBI for hacking the computer systems of some of the world’s leading technology companies – just for the challenge of it. Nowadays he’s a trusted and respected cybersecurity consultant who works for Fortune 500 companies and governments all around the world. Kevin Mitnick will be giving his keynote address at the CeBIT Global Conferences on Thursday 19 March, starting at 5:15 p.m.

The Conferences’ star power continues with Dr. Jamie Shea, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges. He will be taking the stage at 12 noon on Wednesday 18 March. Preceding him on stage is another speaker with a military background – Dr. Markus Zoller, CEO of the Swiss defense contractor RUAG Defence. Dr. Zoller will be giving his address on cybersecurity at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday 18 March.

The American cybersecurity company Resolution1 Security was spun off from the security provider AccessData in 2004 and specializes in cyber-attack incident response solutions. At 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday 18 March, its COO, Craig Carpenter, will take the stage at the CeBIT Global Conferences to present a series of case examples showing how companies can respond rapidly to data breaches.

The speaker highlights on Tuesday 17 March include Raimund Genes, Chief Technology Officer at Internet security company Trend Micro. Genes heads a worldwide team of cyber-defense experts and software developers who are continually researching and developing new technology components for the company’s “Smart Protection Network” cloud data mining framework. The framework protects Trend Micro’s customers against threats from a wide range of sources. Mr. Genes will give his address at 12:15 p.m.

Also speaking on the Tuesday will be Ian Evans, Senior Vice President at AirWatch, an enterprise mobility management firm that develops sophisticated security solutions for mobile devices of all kinds. Mr. Evans will give his address at 11:45 a.m.

On Thursday 19 March, cybersecurity expert and TED speaker Mikko Hyppönen will talk about the kinds of future threats that companies will need to look out for as they seek to safeguard their critical data and infrastructure. Mikko Hyppönen is the Chief Research Officer at the Finnish-based cybersecurity provider F-Secure Corporation. He will be giving his address at 10 a.m.
